Can a sport this silly really go legitimate?
Every July, in a market square in Derbyshire, grown adults take their socks off and lock toes for a world title. It's been happening since 1974. It's been politely rejected by the International Olympic Committee at least once. It's been on the BBC, in The Guardian, and watched by millions of people online.
Sole Ambition is a feature documentary about the small, stubborn crew betting everything that this is the decade toe wrestling stops being a joke and starts being a sport. Funny when it needs to be. Sincere where it counts. A film about belief, and about how strange a thing has to be before we stop calling it strange.
Amity Studio.
Amity is a social-first production company making work for the world's most demanding brands. Trusted by BAFTA and Netflix, and recently listed in Forbes, they bring craft, comedy and an unfair sense of timing to everything they touch.
Sole Ambition is their first feature-length documentary, and the perfect subject for it.
