Four things every toe wrestler learns first.

Start here. These are the same fundamentals taught at the world championship, written plain, no gatekeeping.

The Lock

Interlock big toes across the line on the Toedium, soles flat against each other. Power doesn't come from the toe, it comes from rotating the ankle and driving through the hip.

The Position

Seated, backside on the line, non-wrestling foot raised, hands flat on the floor for stability. Win the position, win the round, most matches are decided before the lock even tightens.

Foot & Toe Conditioning

Toe-strength, intrinsic foot grip and ankle stability are all trainable. Barefoot work, towel scrunches, calf raises and short-foot drills build the platform the lock fires from.

The Mental Game

Breathe out on the ref's call. Three, two, one, toes away, the first second is chaos. Stay calm, hold position, and let your opponent burn their grip trying to muscle the lock.

Toe wrestling rewards the same qualities barefoot athletes, climbers and combat-sport competitors train for: toe-flexor strength, intrinsic foot stability, grip endurance and balance under twisting load. None of that is a gimmick, and all of it is trainable.
